A
letter from Commander Bryan

Hi, I am Bryan Thacker, Section Commander for the North Capital Section
of the Northern California and Nevada Division of the Royal Rangers.
I have been involved in Royal Rangers since I was a little boy. I have served in many functions in Royal Rangers over the years and am really excited about what this Section is doing for the boys in the North Capital area. I have many other men that are working with me to provide these boys with the opportunity to see excellent role models of men, dads, Christian leaders and friends. These men are of the highest caliber. I am truly indebted to them. Now, back to the boys – the reason I and many other men are involved in Royal Rangers. This program is designed to meet boy’s natural needs for fun, leadership, friendship, recognition, structure, order, and Spiritual fulfillment. It is my greatest pleasure too see boys in their natural environment learning about God, and where they fit in God’s plan. Learning how to be great leaders. Seeing the recognition of their work. And seeing how they can accomplish more with a team of friends than they can all by themselves.
Royal Rangers recently re-vamped their program. This program is the finest program available. It is designed to bring a boy into the saving knowledge of Christ, build a sure foundation for his life in Christ, deepen his relationship in Christ, teach him how to persevere in the face of opposition, and bring all this to a hungry world. This program also excels at teaching and motivating the leaders.
As the Section Commander of the North Capital Section of the Northern California and Nevada district, I am committed to working with each outpost in this section to provide the boys with the best opportunity to achieve the Gold Medal of Achievement – the pinnacle of achievement in the Royal Rangers program. To this end, we have Merit Camps throughout the year. These merit camps are theme based and designed to maximize fun and achievement for the boys. We also have fun nights, like our annual Skate night in Roseville. This is just a fun night of roller-skating for the whole family. We also have our annual Section Pinewood Derby race. This is an opportunity for boys to compete racing their hand built pinewood derby cars – and cheer each other on. This is an event for the whole family; we have the Open category so that parents, brothers and sisters can also compete, both in race and in workmanship. Even if you are not competing, you are welcome to watch and cheer on the boys! We are also involved in the annual Ranger Camp. This is a 4 day camp of fun fun fun! The boys compete as teams on one day and individuals on another day. But, the main focus is fun! Watching over 300 boys having the time of their lives – doing what comes naturally to them – is one of the highlights of my year.
If your boy is in Royal Rangers, thank you for allowing me to be involved in the life of your boy. If you are simply investigating this program for your boy, I look forward to meeting you.
In Christ, our Master Ranger
Bryan Thacker
